Around 7,462 Prepaid meters were installed in the City and Province of Maputo, within the scope of the second phase of implementation of the pilot project for this type of meter.
According to Francisco Tamele, responsible for the project to expand the implementation of Prepaid meters, by 2024, it is expected to reach 100 thousand units in all Operational Areas, including the Boane Delegation. However, he explains that, from the number of installed meters, 7,344 are active, 55 are damaged and 66 are in free state. All covered customers of all categories Domestic, Commercial, Industrial, Public, and Fountains.
"The meters were installed in all operational areas, with greater emphasis on those located in the largest urban centers, such as Maxaquene, Matola, Matola Rio, Laulane, Chamanculo, and Tsalala", said Tamele, who added, "In this exercise, we find challenges for the present and for the future, which guide the intervention actions towards a more assertive approach as possible in the implementation of the prepaid service regime".
Our speaker understands that there is a need for improvements in the definition and implementation of operational plans for the installation of prepaid meters, especially concerning the timely availability of meters, accessories, alignment of teams within the scope of procedures to be followed in field actions and, monitoring and management support. On the other hand, it understands that the teams should be better oriented in this expansion process of the Prepaid system, for which reason, a consultancy action will be developed for the elaboration of a Business Plan for the expansion phase that will allow AdRMM to better position itself concerning the prospects for development and predictability of the business itself.
